On June 15th, 2005, the Trail of Screams (a Haunted
Attraction located in Rockford, Illinois) hosted a night of seminars and
demonstrations for individuals in the Haunted House Industry. The topics that
were covered included everything from scare tactics to make-up
application. Along
with the seminars, they provided food & drink for those who attended.
In between the seminars, the Trail of Screams staff took everyone
on a behind-the-scenes tour of their attraction, to show them the strategy
behind some of their scares.

Improvisation Seminar
Presented by Michael Dice
Guest speaker Michael Dice is a local
theater director, having directed nine shows since 1998. These shows
were produced at Pec Playhouse Theatre, Main Street Players of Boone County
and the Beloit Civic Theatre. Michael was brought in to offer
various improvisational activities, intended to help participants exercise their
acting skills. By leading improvisational activities like brushing your
teeth without props and playing an imaginary game of "Tug of War",
Michael got everyone involved in exercises that were not only educational, but
fun as well.

Special thanks to the Trail of Screams Staff for organizing this
worthwhile event. Judging by the professional Powerpoint presentations
they used and the organized seminars they conducted, it was quite obvious that a great deal of
preparation went into making this gathering a reality. They really put
together a great event, especially
considering this was their first time hosting seminars for the Haunted House
Industry. Haunters have even more to look forward to, as the Trail of
Screams staff has plans to host similar gatherings in the future. Kudos
to Ann, Brian, Evan and everyone else who helped put this event together.
