Visibility/Location: Location is straightforward. Easy to find off of the highway, but could do with more signage. (I know it's hard to put signs up in town, but maybe one large lit sign on the side of the road to indicate location?
Wait Entertainment: No queue line actors from what I saw, however there were creepy videos playing on a big screen, and the waiting area was indoors/heated which is a plus, what with the weather dropping below fifty degrees.
Length of Event: 20 minutes.
Actor Performance: Good makeups, was too dark to see some of the looks. Actors need more lines. Very few spoke (some made growling noises), and those who did said lines to the extent of 'come play with me.' May have just been a light night.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Good flow except for the maze area with the fence overhead. Our group as well as two others got bunched up trying to find our way out.
Appropriate Ages: 12+
Props / Special FX: They always have very nice props and intricate sets, however it seemed very random. We would go from an operating room to an outdoor scene into a freezer into another surgery into a bathroom, etc. and generally lacked cohesiveness. Very pretty and interactive, however.
Costumes / Make-up: Like I said, it was quite dark in a lot of places which made it hard to see. The makeups I did see were good, though none were particularly memorable.
Summary: Baldwin Asylum is a very nice event. The wait isn't terrible, superb set design and prop work but seeming to lack a theme/flow. Got bunched up in the maze area, some rooms were confusing and you could be caught up in them for a while. Staff needs more lines, but those who spoke did so effectively. Might be hard on older patrons who can't bend or squeeze as easily. I'd also suggest marking ramps even with just a little bit of glow tape as to avoid a tripping hazard, and not playing copyrighted music during the actual attraction. If you're in the area I'd definitely suggest giving it a look.
