Visibility/Location: Good.

Wait Entertainment: N/A, no line when we went.

Length of Event: 15-20 min.

Actor Performance: Good, there were a ton of actors the night we went, and everyone was having a good time.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: N/A, minimal attendance.

Appropriate Ages: graphic scenes.

Props / Special FX: Dream reapers always does an exceptional job creating a good atmosphere and using the space well.

Costumes / Make-up: Always outstanding.

Summary: Dream Reapers is always consistent in delivering an interesting, high quality, enjoyable haunt. I would venture to say that it is the flagship haunt of the Chicagoland area, and has worked hard to earn that title. I always love that they incorporate specific scent with each scene to give you a believable experience, and I wish more haunts would utilize them. That said, I felt that this time around was not as impactful when compared to previous years. This may be due to the change in scenes, with the long held hellbilly house being gone (I miss the pine forest scent in the woods), and a circus-ie theme in its place. It may just need some tweaking with the new format, and I look forward to seeing the evolution next season. But, the actors were fantastic, the make up/costumes were as good as always, and it was, as expected, a good fun scary time. They also added a coffin ride and a photo station to the line inside, so you can buy a photo when you get out to commemorate the evening.

Visibility/Location: you may want to make sure you take down directions if you have not been here before, but they do have signs to point you in the right direction.

Wait Entertainment: Inside the barn they have horror movie clips playing, plus actors, and it looks like you are waiting to get into a creepy old house. The addition of trees around the porch this year made it even better. Lots of spiderwebs.

Length of Event: At least 15-20 minutes of scary fun.

Actor Performance: Very good...they know how to get a scare out of you.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: We did have to slow down at a few points because we were bumping into the group ahead of us, but they were pretty busy for that early in the season.

Appropriate Ages: graphic scenes.

Props / Special FX: They do a really good job, great makeup/costumes, great atmosphere.

Costumes / Make-up: Consistently creepy.

Summary: Last year was good, this year was even better. I have to say that this has taken the #1 spot in IL haunts so far this year for me. Good atmosphere, the actors were enthusiastic, all the scenes were well done. It was an overall good time, fun and scary. The stuffed animal room was new, and the chainsaw wielding fiend scared the pants off the two haunt-hardened comrades I was with (or got a good jump out of them at least). I wanted to go through again as soon as I got out. Highly recommended and well worth the drive.

Visibility/Location: Easy to find/ample parking/no public transit

Wait Entertainment: None at first, but a couple of actors did come out a few minutes before we were admitted. Costume/makeup was a 10, and they did a good job when they did arrive, plenty of screams (and a chainsaw).

Length of Event: 10-15 minutes, on the shorter side, mostly due to lack of visual effects in the hallways. There was nothing to look at in some parts, so you just walked through. Reducing the light would have slowed it down a bit.

Actor Performance: Costume/makeup were very good where there were actors. Performance ranged from very good to just ok, but this may also have to do with the lack of atmosphere/build up.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Traffic was minimal when we visited.

Appropriate Ages: graphic scenes.

Props / Special FX: 30% of the space was very good, 70% had no effects at all (or very minimal).

Costumes / Make-up: the costume/makeup was a 10.

Summary: Although this was their first year, I was very disappointed overall. No atmosphere. Most of the time was spent walking down well-lit hallways that were not even painted, with no effects at all, just pressboard walls. It was like walking through a decidedly un-scary construction site. There was not even anything to mask the ceiling, and I was always very aware that I was walking through a renovated drugstore in a stripmall. The scenes that they did have were well done for the most part, the zombie kitchen was a winner, but in most areas it just seemed very unfinished. Even the well done spaces were not as effective as they could have been, due to the complete lack of atmosphere in the preceding areas. They could have at least painted the walls. It gave the impression that they did not care about the quality of the haunt, even though admission was on the higher end (regular $13, we paid $10 since they were having a special that evening). Overall, I felt that it was unfinished.... and that they should have known better, especially since one of the organizers has been involved with one of the top Chicago haunts. I know the first year can be difficult, but seriously, I did not think the admission justified the experience. The heart was just not there. Unfortunately, I have to say that this was one of the most disappointing haunts that I have been to in quite a while.
