Visibility/Location: The Naper Settlement is an genuine 19th century village and museum. Easy to find, easy to park.

Wait Entertainment: Lots of roaming characters, lots to see even while waiting in lines.

Length of Event: 6:30pm - 10:00pm

Actor Performance: Excellent. The actors are really into their roles and it showed.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Lots of attractions, so patron flow was smooth. If there is a long line at one attraction, you can hit several others in the meantime.

Appropriate Ages: All ages had a ball.

Props / Special FX: The settlement itself provides an ideal background for the festivities. There were some great special effects and makeup/costume jobs, but high-tech effects would clash with the 19th century setting. They got it just right.

Costumes / Make-up: Period costumes really added to the spooky environment. The headless horseman, the seven deadly sins, and the headless woman were all great.

Summary: Overall, the event is essentially a Halloween theme park. There are storytellers, magicians, a seance, gypsy fortune tellers, multiple haunted locations, food vendors. A very spooky environment with fewer shock stunts. Scary without being overly intimidating. Great value for money. The Naper Settlement is a great place to visit year-round.

Visibility/Location: Easy to find, just follow the smiles.

Wait Entertainment: Lots to see, so there really is no wait

Length of Event: Evenings

Actor Performance: Outstanding. They are better than the pros. I gladly donated to them instead of giving money to high-priced operations that aren't nearly as good.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Very smooth with people coming and going all night

Appropriate Ages: All ages. The characters are especially responsive to younger visitors to ensure that everyone has a great time.

Props / Special FX: Props are terrific every year and they have added something new each year. The spooky storytelling skeleton is cool, and the pirate luau scene was fantastic.

Costumes / Make-up: All the characters are great. The girl in the coffin is awesome.

Summary: Still the very best home haunt there is. I'm devastated to hear that it's their last year. There will never be a better haunt or a better cast or a more gracious host family. We'll all be holding our breath until next year.
Thanks for all your hard work this, and every, year. You've provided a tremendous community service that will not be forgotten.
