Visibility/Location: I live a few miles outside of Hudson, and I've been going to this haunt for a few years now, so I knew where it was. They also had signs pointing to the haunted house if you didn't know the exact location.
Wait Entertainment: My friend and I didn't really need any wait entertainment, since we got in minutes after arriving. But they did have a classic scary movie projected on one of the garage doors.
Length of Event: Depending on how long the maze takes, probably about ten to fifteen minutes.
Actor Performance: This area was good, especially in the maze. The actors there popped out of nowhere in the dark, and most (if not all) of them startled me at one point or another.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: My friend and I were the only visitors in the haunt when we visited, so we didn't run into anybody else.
Appropriate Ages: I'm pretty sure all ages can handle this house. It's supposed to be family-oriented.
Props / Special FX: They did good here as well. The strobe lights were disorienting, and the last room had a surprise that really frightended my friend.
Costumes / Make-up: I think this is where they did the best. In one of the rooms, there were strobe lights and polka-dotted walls, and an actor dressed from head to toe in polka dots frightened me and my friend without us knowing he was even in there.
Summary: In my opinion, Hudson's haunted house is a pretty good haunt, considering how small the overall town is. They change it up every year, but they keep the maze the same, which I think is a good thing. My friend didn't really want to go at first since she thought it was going to be too scary, but I took her anyway and she ended up having a great time.
This haunt is mostly geared towards families and younger children, but that doesn't mean teenagers and young adults can't enjoy it too. My friend described the haunt as "mild enough for the children to enjoy, but scary enough for the teens". I agree with her. There were some rooms that weren't all that scary, but then again, there were other rooms that even made me jump a bit. And I'm not a guy who gets scared easily.
I liked Hudson's haunted house, and I would encourage families to bring their kids to this haunt. I'm nineteen years old and even I had a good time here. If you like haunted houses that are scary but not extremely scary, then I'm positive that you'll like Hudson's haunted house.
