|Scare Factor: Medium | Atmosphere: Very Good|
Visibility/Location: There are signs leading you to the 4H park, but once you are at the park which entrance to use & where to park are a little sketchy. We were familiar with this haunt so we entered the southmost entrance & followed the road north toward the lights.
Wait Entertainment: It was a slow night so we didn't have to wait in line more than 10 minutes. I didn't see any wait entertainment to speak of, but that could have been a reflection of the slow night. There is food available in the line area.
Length of Event: You are allowed to move at your own pace & there are a few areas where you can get lost, but our group went through in about 25 minutes.
Actor Performance: There were alot of actors in this haunt. Most of the actors were really great at engaging our group. Especially in the back half of the haunt. The actors all had pretty good timing. However I would suggest that more attention could be paid to the middle & back of a group not just the first 2 or 3 people.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Like I said there are some twists & turns & it is possible to get lost, but we never ran into another group on our run through.
Appropriate Ages: If your kid can handle the standard slasher type horror film & not have nightmares they should be old enough for this haunt.
Props / Special FX: There are little to no animatronics at this haunt. They do have a vortex tunnel & some fairly well decorated rooms, but there is also alot of dark.
Costumes / Make-up: Costumes & makeup seemed pretty good. It seemed like a pretty even mix of makeup & masks. The actors move pretty quickly & some of the areas are sort of dark, so there is not alot of time to really get a good look at the characters.
Summary: In all fairness, I should probably mention that I used to be a part of this haunt. So my review is not completely unbiased. Having said that I don't think the people running this haunt would want to see reviews that are anything but the truth.
I thought the crew at Henry Street Horrors did a really great job this year. The only complaint that I would have was that it seemed to go by quickly in comparison to some of the previous years. The actor in the room right after the doors was a total ninja that I completely didn't see coming, which was great. The vortex tunnel works so much better this year. Many of the scenes looked great. The cabin at the front needed a little TLC & I was a little disappointed that no one took advantage of following up on the drill scare, but those are minor nitpicks on what was an otherwise great experience. It was nice getting to see this haunt that I had helped out with in the past & not knowing what was lurking around the corners.
