Visibility/Location: Since this haunt is way back on a farm road its a bit tricky if you didnt have a GPS, but everyone has on so it was easy. I saw 2 signs pointing the way off the main street, so that was helpful
Wait Entertainment: They had at least 3 actors walking the lines. The nurse was pretty sweet, she was twitchy and i never heard her say a single word to anyone even if they wanted a picture, which they all did. The clown was a ball of energy and talked every ones ear off but in a weird high pitched clown voice. Then some tall guy with a large stick, he didnt do much, but the other 2 were awesome to watch. Also, on the night i was there they had a "thriller" dance troupe which was really good we though.
Length of Event: I would say roughly 20-25 minuted to get through all 3 (or 4 as they say)
Actor Performance: Only one or 2 actors broke character, and that was when we asked them a question AFTER they scared us, so that was our doing not theirs. These kids seemed wel trained and to be having a real fun time doing so.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Perfect for us. I was in a group of 2, never saw anyone in front or anyone in back of us. We were alone the whole time.
Appropriate Ages: 12 and up
Props / Special FX: They had good lighting and great uses of black and darkness. I wouldnt say overly detailed but still had enough to keep you looking around the room.
Costumes / Make-up: It was a touch too dark for me to remember what the makeup was, but that was a good thing i thought. Some haunts are too lit up and i dont like seeing too much. Less is more.
Summary: By far my favorite haunt this year. We went there last weekend but the sign said it was closed, prolly from the heavy rain earlier in the day.
The house is a 10/10 from the first scene when the lights flicker and turn off, to the truck coming out of no where i was either laughing or screaming the whole time. Scares did not come from the usual corners or from behind you, but from the sides and other weird angles that youd not expect. I loved the house, and for the $15 i was charged i dont think there is a better value around here. Flat out great.
Then there was the haunted corn maze....that left something to be desired. I counted 3 actors in the whole place, and they were within in 5 feet of eachother. So it was baiscally us walking in a dark corn maze....boring as can be.
When we got to little shack we could hear 2 actors having a full blown convo, but they were hanging for the walls or something so maybe they didnt see us, and the last cemetary thing looks cool but not scary at all again. Not sure if its just too look at or its ment to be part of the haunt.
SO! Abyss....your house might be my new favorite haunt. Love every inch of the barn. Great actors and scenes, very in your face and I counted at least 5 screams that i let out...full blown screams. It was great, and actually had me nevrous about what was coming.
I might even go again just for the barn portion. But, can i skip the corn maze this time?
