|Scare Factor: Very Low | Atmosphere: Poor|
Visibility/Location: No visible sign off the highway from the direction we came (we came from the town of Ashmore). When we left, we did notice a small sign off the highway on the other road, but there was no lights - so it was not readable.
Wait Entertainment: There wasn't any wait entertainment. The people taking the tickets were in costume, but didn't have makeup on. There was one person in the lobby taking tickets. She did have makeup and a costume, however, she was not in character. She took tickets, told the rules and sent patrons inside.
Length of Event: It took us between 5 and 10 minutes for us to go through the entire haunt.
Actor Performance: The actor performance was disappointing. There were a few kids (teen) that jumped out at us, but their timing was off. One girl in all black that screams in your face then stares you down - would have been more effective to startle us rather than scream in our ears. Not too scary to walk into an area and see the workers chatting and visiting with each other rather than being ready for the next group. Another room, we walked in an the clown had his mask pulled up. My friend startled him rather than him scaring us, then he said "I probably wouldn't have scared you anyway".
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Patron flow was good inside the haunt, but very congested and disorganized in the waiting area. We never ran into a group ahead of behind us. There was one area that you back track at the end - if it were a busier night with more customers, I think this could potentially cause confusion with people going starting through the first floor and people finishing & ready to exit.
Appropriate Ages: I would say this is appropriate for any and all ages.
Props / Special FX: I don't recall seeing any special effects. There was only one room I recall even having music. There was very little detail put into each room. Some rooms were almost bare.
Costumes / Make-up: I don't recall any costume or makeup that stood out. There were several masks.
Summary: All I can say is I was very disappointed this year. All the little details, from music to props to makeup and costumes have added to the great overall experience in years past. This year, the lack of detail and experience of the workers was a let down. I do understand that the place is under new management, but I think the ticket pricing should reflect that rather than charging the same as in years past for no where near the same atmosphere and entertainment. The pathway from the ticket booth to the entrance is unlit and tall grass, so I could see this being a potential tripping hazard for patrons. The woman taking the tickets seemed very overwhelmed, stating to our group that she has never done this before and doesn't know what she is doing. Although the patron flow within the haunt was acceptable, the waiting area for customers was disorganized. Most other haunts have some sort of rope line to direct traffic - here they did not. This year the pathway through the building was very similar to last year, but far less to see (and the back side of the third floor was not used as all). There was no noticeable theme. I am sad to say that this year seemed to be just thrown together which is very unfortunate. I sympathize with the fact that this is a new crew with new management, but unfortunately they will be compared to years past.
