|Scare Factor: Very High | Atmosphere: Very Good|
Visibility/Location: This location was easy to find and quite visible from the road. The signs leading up to the spot help if you aren't familiar with the area. There is definitely plenty of free parking available.
Wait Entertainment: There were characters/actors mixing with the patrons...posing for pictures, etc. The sound effects really contributed to the atmosphere and built up the excitement while we were waiting.
Length of Event: We did both haunts and were probably in the actual haunted houses for a combined total of around 30 minutes or more.
Actor Performance: There were a bunch of live actors in these haunts, and they were AWESOME! Some spoke, some screamed, some just stared at you or followed you quietly around the rooms. However, they were obviously paying attention because they were able to figure out my name! It definitely added an extra scary element to have them call me out by name. The authenticity of the characters made this attraction so believable!!! The make up and costumes were very skillfully done. Seriously....the ratio of live actors to animatronics really make this haunted house stand out for me.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: I thought the flow was really good. There was plenty of time for us to enjoy the rooms without feeling rushed...but then if you lingered a little too long, the actors were good at upping the scare factor to get you moving along. Lol. The Psychosis side took a little longer because of the fact that you have to search for hidden exits. However, we never ran into another group while we were inside.
Appropriate Ages: I would say this is appropriate for ages 13 and up. I think it might be too scary for littler ones.....although I think I heard someone say that they do have some special times that are more for the little kids. We were there for the scare, though...and that is exactly what we got!
Props / Special FX: The special FX in these haunts were amazing! The squishy floor in parts of the Fear Factory side made you feel like you were bogged down in mud. There were moving walls, hidden exits, air cannons, strobe lights, creepy sound effects, etc... Some of the rooms were even SCENTED! The Psychosis side really played with your mind because of the seemingly escape proof rooms. It was amazing where the doors were finally found! The cabinets and furniture were not mere cabinets and furniture! Many of them move! You could tell that someone put a lot of time and energy into these haunts!
Costumes / Make-up: The make up and costumes seemed very authentic. Nothing too cartoonish...just flat out scary and creepy. The costumes and make up changed depending on the theme of the room you were in. The actors sometimes seemed to blend into the background and I didn't even realize they were there...until they WANTED me to see them, then you were left wondering where they came from. You really never knew what to expect from one moment to the next.
Summary: This was seriously the best, scariest, creepiest haunted attraction I have ever been to. And since you get two different haunts in one place, it really makes for a great night. I felt it was definitely worth the drive to Rantoul...and was definitely worth the admission price. If you want something new and scary...try Hauntmasters presents Fear Factory and Psychosis! You won't regret it! Don't forget to wear shoes with good traction. You'll need that traction for running out at the end!
