|Scare Factor: Medium | Atmosphere: Fair|
Visibility/Location: People who are familiar with the quad cities will know where this big expo center is, however, the only visible thing to indicate where this haunt was located was a large vehicle out front that had Shock House written on it. Other than that, there were not any signs that pointed to the haunt.
Wait Entertainment: This was okay, the line was one long straight line. The actors would come up and interact with us occasionally, but other than that there was not much wait entertainment.
Length of Event: 8-10 minutes
Actor Performance: There were some actors that had really high energy and provided quite a decent amount of scares and then there were some actors who did not seem to care about scaring people at all. It was hit or miss.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: They did an excellent job with this because we never ran into another group and another group never caught up to us. They spaced out groups extremely well.
Appropriate Ages: 12 and up
Props / Special FX: There were some pretty cool props set up in here. Nothing state of the art, but there were a few that provided some really good scares.
Costumes / Make-up: Some actors wore masks and some wore make-up, it was a mix between the two so it was evenly balanced.
Summary: Overall I was really let down by this haunt. I had heard good things about it before and the fact that it was in the giant expo center in Rock Island seemed really promising. Overall, the haunt took up what seemed to be about 1/20th of the building and there seemed to be a lot of wasted space throughout the whole place. I will give them props for implementing some pretty good scares, but they were not consistent and when we came to the end of the haunt, we walked out of it thinking, "oh, that was it?" This haunt was definitely on the shorter side. My biggest concern with this place was the fact that they had some major safety concerns, one of them being the long hallway that you had to crouch down to walk through in order to get to the other room. The hallway dragged on forever and they implemented a loud startle scare in the hallway that made us hit our heads off of the low ceiling, which made it even more difficult to want to continue through the haunted house. This place has potential to be a good haunt, but there was a lot of wasted space and most of the sets were dark rooms or had little to no lighting, so you could not even enjoy some of the cool props and scenes they had set up.
