THE MOON-RAYS PUT A NEW SPIN ON SWING

Chicago, 4/6/08 - The Moon-Rays, “Americas Spookiest Hipsters” are releasing an album of Halloween songs from the swing era titled “Swingin at the Seance.” due out in late May. Best known for their soundtrack work and beatnik surf sounds, this album is a new and exciting style for the band.

Using full instrumentation they are taking songs that were originally recorded in the 1920’s – 40’s by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Kay Starr, Artie Shaw, and Bessie Smith and bringing them into the present without losing the feel and flavor of the original recordings. Most of these songs have not been touched since they were originally recorded on 78 back in the big band era.

The interesting part of this recording is that the album outside of the spooky theme stands alone as a great Swing record. This is the first Halloween album that you can Jive to, start to finish.

The Moon-Rays are known for their "spooky" sounds and have recorded three previous CD’s for SVI records in Chicago, "Thrills & Chills" (which was the JPF Indie records award winner for 2006) The "Ghouls Go West" and "Sinister Surf" All three albums have produced songs that were used in films such as "Ghost in a Teeny Bikini", "American Scary", and "Dr. Horrors House of Idiots." They recently scored and recorded the music for “Tales from the Pub” as well as the title track for the upcoming film "The Ghastly Love of Johnny X"!
