Visibility/Location: This event can be kind of difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the downtown area of Downs. There weren't any signs along the main road, leading you to the event. .
Wait Entertainment: The main wait entertainment was music they had playing outside for the people waiting in line.
Admission Price: $1 for haunted house, hayrack ride & all the hot dogs you can eat.

$4 for a t-shirt and a bottle of water.
Length:

= Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary.

Scare Factor: Low-Medium.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere in this attraction was created by a lot of the spooky dark hallways and a few nice special effects.
Crowd Control: Patrons in the haunted house were spaced out appropriately. I didn't run into any other groups on my trip through the Downs Haunted House.

Summary:

This event is the best value around. For only $1 you get the following:

  • A trip through the Downs Haunted House

  • A hayrack ride

  • All the hot dogs you can eat.

The haunted house consists of a collection of scenes, which are separated by some very spooky, dark hallways. For a lower budget house, they really have a nice set-up. I even saw a few props that you usually see in commercial haunted attractions. A big hit inside the house was the spinning vortex tunnel. In one of their new scenes they lined everyone up in the middle of the room, warning them that the walls were going to move in, then something totally unexpected happened. I donít want to give away the surprise, but it was great. The dungeon scene with its custom-built wooden coffin was nice and I also enjoyed the big surprise at the end of the fortune teller scene.

I donít know of any other haunted attraction that offers such a value. This event has to be the most impressive collective community effort I have ever seen. The entire event is funded with donations from individuals within the community. I was told that the Mayor even volunteers to help run the haunted house. If you get a chance, be sure to check this one out!
