Summary:
Every year I go, I am
amazed at the value of this event! The miniscule $1
admission fee gains you entry to their Haunted House, a hayrack
ride and all the hot dogs you can eat! This event
definitely has the best "bang for your buck" of any
event in the state, or probably anywhere else, for that
matter! What a value!
Every year, the haunted
house is different. They really come up with some
interesting scenes. The electric chair scene featured
a prisoner in an electric chair, with electrical panels and
switches on the wall. It had quite a surprise at the
end. The vortex tunnel was great and there was a hallway
where you had to navigate through a series of hanging cardboard
tubes. There was even a part of the house where my group got to
participate and scare the next group that came through! I
really enjoyed the last scene, "Bezo's Freezer", that sent patrons
running out of the exit!
Not only am I impressed
with the value of this event, I like the fact that it's a great
community activity. In its 14
years of operation, the Downs event has been completely funded
by community donations. A lot of people have donated their
time to help plan and run this attraction. Even the mayor
volunteered to work at the haunted house. This event has
the best "bang for your buck" that I have ever seen.
It's a whole evening of entertainment for only $1 per person, so
be sure to check this one out!
