Summary:
Dream Reapers put on a
really good show this year. They kept some of the scenes
that had worked well in the past, like the clown room, hillbilly
house and industrial area. They
also created some really great new scenes too. Heck, they even added a
surprise or two in the staging room where they tell you the
rules! In general, more areas had covered ceilings, which really
enhanced the believability of the illusion they are trying to
create in each scene.
Detail, detail and more detail...
That is where Dream Reapers really shines. Their new areas were
phenomenal. The swamp was so realistic it was amazing. It had standing water,
trees, an alligator and animatronic
striking snakes. It was also very dark and claustrophobic.
As part of the scene, they actually had you walk inside of a tree. The tree
was very realistic in appearance and highly detailed. Inside the
tree, there were textured walls that actually moved in and out, as if the
tree itself was breathing. The courtyard was another area that
was outstanding. I really enjoyed the real working fountain, the skull waterfall and the actor
who was dressed to look like a statue. At first I didn't think he was
real. He stood completely still and just as my group
had almost passed, he lunged at us, scaring
everyone. The grungy hillbilly house basement was a nice
addition to their already popular hillbilly house scene. In
this new area, there were kids caged up
under the stairs, pleading for you to set them free. There
was a door that was chained shut, that rattled back and forth as
if someone were trying to escape. There were also a couple
of hillbilly characters taunting you from a platform above the
stairs.
Not only did Dream
Reapers have highly detailed scenes, acting was another one of
their strengths this season. The actors in most areas were very
enthusiastic and energetic. In the clown room, they were
literally bouncing off the walls. A couple of the other
high-intensity areas were the hillbilly house and the industrial
area. Most of the actor's attacks were right
on target. They really seemed to know their roles and stayed in
character the whole time.
The Dream Reapers Crew's
attention to
detail is amazing. Not only did they create some great new
scenes, they added some great finishing touches to existing
scenes, also. There is a lot of eye candy in this haunted
house. Kudos to the Dream Reapers crew. They
obviously put a lot of work into their haunted house and it
shows. This event is a
must-see.
