Summary:
Instead of sticking
to a specific theme as they had in previous years, this season Frightmare
presented numerous types of
themes throughout the haunted house. A number of the
scene elements like windows, doors and various props were created via
artwork painted on the walls, that glowed under blacklights. The
mirror maze was nice and I also liked the clown room.
Other notable scenes were the haunted forest with the chainsaw-wielding maniac and the cornstalk maze. Most of the props
were consistent with the scenes they were in; however there was
one exception. In the graveyard, there was an animatronic
bed that launched a mannequin at you, but it didn't really seem
to fit in with the general theme of the scene.
Most of the actors seemed
very enthusiastic, but a number of their
attacks were poorly timed, thus making the scares less
effective. About half of the actors seemed to be young
kids (very short) which made them, in general, less
intimidating. There were a couple of times that I was
caught off-guard, though. The actors did have a few
great hiding spots.
Since this event wasn't
overly scary, it would be appropriate for patrons of all
ages. Overall they did a pretty good job this year, but
for the admission price I wish it had lasted a little longer. Since
this event is held at a family entertainment center, there are
enough activities for an entire evening of fun.
Besides the Haunted House, there are many other attractions,
including mini-golf, video games, go-kart track, batting cages
and more, to keep you occupied.
