Summary:
The Raven's Grin is a
one-of-a-kind attraction. It's not your typical Haunted
House with spinning vortex tunnels and chainsaw-wielding
actors. It's kind of like a Haunted fun house with equal
amounts of scares and comic relief.
Not only is the Raven's
Grin a commercial haunted house, but the building is actually
haunted. At the start of the tour, you are given a brief
history of some of the strange things that have happened inside
the house. Patrons have reported seeing orbs and other
supernatural phenomenon during their tours. The most
common apparition is that of the "Lady in White", who
is often seen in the wine cellar.
The house is filled with
unique props and artwork, spawned from the delightfully twisted
mind of the owner, Jim Warfield. On your way through the
house, you pass through twisting hallways, tunnels and
slides. One of the most popular features is the slide in
the "Bad Dreams Bedroom", which extends from the top
floor of the house down to the stone-walled wine cellar, 24 feet
below the surface of the earth!
This haunted house is a
must see! It is the most unique attraction I have ever
visited. It has gained national acclaim, being featured on the television shows like "Wild Chicago",
"HGTV Extreme Homes" and Comedy Central’s “Travel Sick”, as well as being featured in many national publications, such as National Geographic World Magazine. It has also been voted one of the Top 13 Haunted Attractions in the country by Hauntworld Magazine.
You definitely get a lot of "bang for your buck" at
this event. With tours lasting over an hour for a
modest admission fee of only $12, this is one attraction that
you don't want to miss!
Note: The best time to visit the Raven's Grin is in the off-season, when you can avoid the huge October crowds and get a more lengthy, in depth and personalized tour. If you visit on non-October dates, you also have the benefit of Jim Warfield, the creative force behind the Raven's Grin, guiding the entire tour. Because The Raven's Grin is open year-round (301 days a year), you can drop in nearly any day for a tour!
