Illinois recently visited Edwards Orchard, which is an apple
orchard located in Popular Grove, near Rockford, Illinois.
It was easy to see that this is a popular place. Turning
onto Centerville Road, I ran into stop and go traffic for about
15 minutes, until I made it to the entrance. Once I got
there, though, there was plenty of parking.
the line of more than 50 people at the door, it was obvious that
their store is very popular. It was packed with all kinds
of goodies, including pumpkins, apples, honey, salad dressing,
assorted jams & jellies, caramel apples, Fall crafts,
children's books and much more. My personal favorites
include the donuts, sweet corn salsa and their apple
cider. While they don't accept credit cards, there were
multiple ATM's on-site, for their customer's
Outside, there was a live bluegrass band playing. Numerous
picnic tables were available, so patrons could sit & eat, or
just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There were also pony
rides and wagon rides, too. Edwards Orchard is a perfect place
for an autumn family excursion. Be sure to check it out,
if you get the chance.
