Summary:

The Raven's Grin Inn is a very unique event.  It's not your typical Halloween haunted attraction.  Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers?  Spinning vortex tunnels?  You won't find any of that here.  The Raven's Grin is like a haunted funhouse, with equal shares of humor and scares.

The tour begins with any introduction given by the owner Jim Warfield, who shares the building's history, describing some of the supernatural occurrences that have happened over the years.   That is another thing that makes the Raven's Grin Inn different from most other Halloween attractions... the fact that the building is actually haunted.  Since 1870, when it was originally built, it has been many things, before it was transformed into the Raven's Grin.  It has been everything from a brothel to an Oldsmobile dealership.

After the introduction, patrons make their way through the rest of the house, encountering twisting tunnels, secret passageways and fun slides.  Practically every room of the house is filled with eclectic artwork and bizarre displays that were spawned from the delightfully twisted mind of Jim Warfield.  There is so much "eye candy", you could go through this attraction several times and still not see everything.

One of the most memorable features at the Raven's Grin is the slide in the "Bad Dreams Bedroom".  The slide spans from the top floor of the house, down to the stone-walled wine cellar, 24 feet below the surface of the earth!  Because it is such a thrilling ride, it has been made an optional part of the tour.  It's definitely a blast!  Of all the places in the Raven's Grin, my personal favorite is the wine cellar.  Carved out of solid dolomite rock, it is reportedly one of the most haunted areas in the Raven's Grin.  The "Lady in White" has been seen there, as well as various orbs and other paranormal activity.

This haunted house is a must see!  It is the most unique attraction I have ever visited. It has gained national acclaim, being featured on the television shows like "Wild Chicago", "HGTV Extreme Homes" and Comedy Central’s “Travel Sick”, as well as being featured in many national publications, such as National Geographic World Magazine. It has also been voted one of the Top 13 Haunted Attractions in the country by Hauntworld Magazine.   You definitely get a lot of "bang for your buck" at this event.   With tours lasting over an hour for a modest admission fee of only $12, this is one attraction that you don't want to miss!

Note: The best time to visit the Raven's Grin is in the off-season, when you can avoid the huge October crowds and get a more lengthy, in depth and personalized tour. If you visit on non-October dates, you also have the benefit of Jim Warfield, the creative force behind the Raven's Grin, guiding the entire tour. Because The Raven's Grin is open year-round (301 days a year), you can drop in nearly any day for a tour!
