Evil Intentions Haunted House
900 Grace Street
Elgin, IL 60120

Visibility/Location: Evil Intentions is located in a warehouse in Elgin. The area is well lit, with a giant light in the area indicating parking. They have their own lot across the street from the event, and they have a hearse out in front with their logo. Beyond that, it is not easy to see from main streets, and I did not see any signage beyond the limited information in the front.
Wait Entertainment: There were two guys walking through the crowd when we were outside, one was a fat monster that was entertaining, the other was a guy carrying a metal pipe weapon. Once inside, there was creepy music playing, and they had posted little excerpts torn out of some kind of book, but it was too dark and the lettering was too small to read.

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Scare Factor: High-see below in summary
Crowd Control: Flow was very smooth, but it was opening night and there wasn’t a lot of people at the event.

Summary:

I would like to start by saying I believe a lot of the problems of the evening were due to going on opening night.

The event started out on the wrong foot, because, for some reason, people were not let in to the building until 8:20pm, even though opening was supposed to be at 7:30pm. After being let in the building, people were standing in line for another 30 minutes until they were let in to the event. I am not sure what the reasons were, but I believe it was due to lack of actors showing up.

Once we were let in, we were guided to a little room to hide in coffins while there was a little slot to look out. A monster came out, looking for people, saw us in the coffins, but then did nothing to scare us other than looking in the coffins at the people. After he left, the actor who brought us in to the room then told us to leave through a doorway. There were then a couple of rooms that had some good pop outs, but nothing out of the ordinary. Then you go through a cell area that was a little twisty and turny, with a couple of actors climbing around scaring you. After that you go down a dark corridor that had not one, but several chainsaw actors which I thought was a good scare.

After this, you end up going outside in to another section of the warehouse, which starts out with a dark church area with a several mannequins in dark hoods, one or two are actual people. Then you go through an area with statues, one actual does come to life. Then you go through a hospital area with weeping angels, one is actually in a harness that flies through the room. In the hospital room has several beds with sheets on mannequins, and had someone come out from under one of the beds. It seems in all of these rooms, there should have been more actors popping out, but only had one or two in each area.

Then they had a wood slatted area that is usually set up more like a maze, but this time was just one long path. It led to an area where there was a kid trying to sell t-shirts, thinking you are done with the event, but then an actor comes out and ruins everything. Then a hooded person directs everyone down different paths, which ends up creating a maze that confuses everyone until the hooded person send you down the correct way. Once you get through that, you end up going out the official exit.

Overall, I was let down by the event, but I believe it was due to opening night bugs in the system. Once these bugs are corrected, as soon as this weekend, I believe Evil Intentions will go back to being a very good haunted house that it has been in the past.
