Visibility/Location: Realm of Terror is located in Kristof’s Entertainment Center, off of Rollins Road. I always seem to drive by it because it comes up on you suddenly in the middle of the street.
Wait Entertainment: There is an actor dressed like a homeless Santa Claus complete with a plastic reindeer sitting out in front where you get tickets, using telling crude jokes and making people laugh.

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Very High
Crowd Control: Smooth. No one else caught up to us, and there was no one ahead of us.

Summary:

The premise of this house is that the first half is set up like a science lab, where the experiments have escaped and are wreaking havoc throughout the labs. When you first walk in, you go in to a room where there is a video explaining everything. Evidently, they had a new video recorded, but it wasn’t working, so they used last year’s video. Throughout the first half of the house all the rooms were set up like different science labs, some had tables were there experiments performed on bodies, other rooms were set up like pharmaceutical labs, all the rooms had great gory details. The actors and props all looking realistic and scary, and there were many good pop outs coming at you from every direction. The actors in this haunt are trying to scare you a lot, and they do their job very well. The two women in the front of our line were afraid to move forward in many of the rooms.

The second half of the house was set up as a pitch black maze. They had bodies hanging down, as well as camouflage netting, which really gets in your way when you are trying to walk through the maze. There was also several actors who pop out at you in there to help add to the fear.

I did talk to owner after the haunt, where he told me about the technical difficulties with the opening video, as well as music that should have been playing throughout the pitch black maze, but none of that bothered me at all, and I didn’t notice it was missing. The haunt was extremely scary, especially in the first half, and the pitch black was pretty claustrophobic. Overall, this is one of the best haunts every year, and it doesn’t disappoint again this year.
