Visibility/Location: D.E.A.D. Central is actually located at Fun Times Square entertainment center, which is very easy to see off of Cicero Ave. There is ample parking in the back of the property. Thereís not a lot of signage for the haunt, but itís easy to find once inside. It would be great to see additional signage next year to make the location stand out further.
Wait Entertainment: In-line entertainment consisted of actors, who did a great job of working the crowd. The actors were creepy but also humorous (and oddly helpful! My friend complimented an actor on his sword, and he was handed a business card for the company that makes them. Very nice touch)!
Admission Price: $17
Parking: Free

Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR: 1.833
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Medium
Crowd Control: There were only six of us waiting in line at the time, so we all walked through together. However, the actors did a great job of guiding us through the haunt; at one point, our whole group got turned around, and the actors helped us find the way out.

Summary:

A recent post on the D.E.A.D. Central Facebook page mentioned that theyíre a haunt with heart, which I couldnít agree with more. While D.E.A.D. Central is a smaller haunt, I have to give them credit for their efforts. The haunt began with an actor following us in the parking lot, generally being creepy and making jokes. His banter continued through the ticket line, which was a fun addition to the haunt.

After waiting in line for a few minutes, we were quickly escorted into the haunt. The first room featured a quick video, explaining the zombies and creatures that we could expect to see in the haunt. From there, we began our journey through the haunt. One thing that stood out was the efforts from the actors; they were really working hard to get some good scares from their patrons. They were interactive, had great makeup, and really committed to their roles. There was definitely more of a reliance on actors that animatronics, which was a nice touch.

The rooms were decked out with props representing differences scenes: a house, a hospital, and a psychedelic clown room. I enjoyed the hospital scenes, complete with a seated waiting room. However, the room that stood out most was an elevator, which is unlike any that I have run into in all of my haunted house visits. Definitely worth a visit just to check out the elevator! There also wasnít a heavy reliance on dark hallways, which I always appreciate.

At the end of the haunt, we were greeted by a chainsaw-wielding gentleman, who chased the other patrons of our group clear out the exit. The actors continued to work the crowd, interacting with patrons who were there for other activities. It was great to see the actorsí ambition for promoting the haunt.

Overall, D.E.A.D. Central is off to a good start in the local haunt scene. While the haunt is relatively short, itís clear that a lot of care has been put into the acting. Iím curious to see what to come next year!
