Karnival Of Karnage Presents: Delirium
Boone County Fairgrounds
8791 Il 76
Belvidere, IL 61008

Visibility/Location: If you've been to the Boone County Fairgrounds before, the location is pretty easy to find. There isn't a lot of signage stating that the Karnival of Karnage is on the road way. However if you are coming from Business 20 and turn right onto IL76 North, there is a colorful arrow showing which entrance to go into up on one of the poles. The event itself is inside the fairgrounds, it is in one of the barns and the doorway has a multicolored light rope around the doorway. Mind you, I did have to ask where to purchase my tickets as there wasn't any signage showing “Tickets” but there was a food truck outside of the barn which told me that I was in the right place.
Wait Entertainment: As I was purchasing my ticket for the haunt, there was one actor walking around – I noticed he was wearing blue jeans which I wasn't too impressed with, however I was sniffed, which was beyond creepy.
Admission Price: $15.00
Parking: N/A – Parking lot is wide open and on a grassy area
Length:

* = Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR: 2.807
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Medium
Crowd Control: Overall flow of the event went pretty smoothly. About half-way through another small group caught up to us as we were entering a maze.

Summary:

The overall theme of the haunt was pretty cohesive. Which is pretty nice considering some haunts don't carry a set theme throughout. I personally have never walked into a mental hospital, and if it is anything like the psychotic laughter you hear throughout the haunt, I really don't ever want to visit or get sent to the institution. There are a few places where the floor is uneven, but it definitely adds to the experience. The haunt is housed inside one of the barns on the Fairground's property which is nice that everything is all in one place and you can see the haunt quite clearly from the parking area. The make-up effects were alright. You could definitely tell that this was an early haunt season night as there was not a huge crowd.

The actors definitely had their act together in being able to get right up next to you and whisper into your ear. A hair raising experience to say the least. Nothing is creepier to me than an eerie silence filled with nothing but shuffling feet to hearing a loud noise coming from absolutely no where. The scenery was pretty cool, an area where there was chain link fencing, actors are able to move around fairly freely, however I wish they would have had more actors throughout the haunt(homecoming weekend/opening weekend), but overall I would put a recommendation in for people to visit this haunt as the scare factor is not too much if you are a chicken(they do have a recommendation on their website no one under 13). They also get bonus points for not overdoing it on the fog , I could actually breath. I would like to tell everyone that closed toed shoes are highly recommended as there are some places where footing is important and the floors are uneven.
