Twisted Crypt Haunted House
5420 East State Street
Rockford, IL 61107

Reviewed By: Shadow
Visibility/Location: Glad that I had the GPS – Located in a stripmall on State Street. Located right next to two Halloween stores (which is rather fitting). Unfortunately the signage isn't very well lit so if you don't look carefully you might pass it and have to turn around (WELL WORTH IT) – Not a lot of light, but ample parking is available.
Wait Entertainment: Wait entertainment consisted of Boris, and Crusty (gentlemen, I assure you) These two are an absolute stitch while you are attempting to enter the attraction. After being harrassed for a short time, you get checked with a metal wand for sharps you are allowed into the building. Right when you walk in, there is a projection up on the wall of a scary movie, there are also couches for patrons to sit on, A lot of fog going on. I was followed into the building by Boris who was entertaining me the entire time and making fun of people taking selfies and looking at Facebook.
Admission Price: $12
Parking: Free
Length:

18.5 Minutes *
* = Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR: 5.395
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Medium-High
Crowd Control: Overall the flow of the haunt was very smooth. Groups were timed, and the staff had radios to communicate group location. There was absolutely no running into any other groups. They do take names for the groups and smaller groups get paired up to go through together.

Summary:

This haunt definitely exceeded my expectations for entertainment. You are told when you are walking in, “We do not care if you are laughing or screaming, as long as you enjoy yourself” I had a hard time trying not to laugh as people were screaming. I really really enjoyed this haunt. They keep you back and give you a visual floor queue to make sure that you know where to stand to keep from getting hit by a door. You get a brief introduction to the “Museum” when they tell you that there are creatures in the haunt, they aren't kidding, that's when the haunt starts and all Hell breaks loose. You have to “escape”. From clowns, to gargoyles, to a super weird VooDoo priestess that seriously looked like she wanted to eat my soul. Fantastic job Voodoo priestess, you sincerely creeped me out. What I thought was really cool is that this is an interactive haunt. You do need to interact with the haunt in order to move out of certain areas which was pretty nifty. Granted, they recommend that ages 13 and up attend, for the younger ones that do, they provide marshmallows to feed to the creatures if they get too scared. So Kudos Twisted Crypt, allowing our future generation to enjoy a haunt without being scarred for life. Although, if you are scared of the Boogeyman you are in for a surprise, he can't get out, but he may cause you to lose your mind. There literally is only one place where you are purposely stopped for safety reasons, you do get asked if you have vertigo, pregnant, or prone to epilepsy, other than that, I can't remember having to stop for any other reason. Definitely a haunt to go to if you are looking for frights as well as entertainment.
