Raven's Grin Inn
411 N. Carroll St.
Mount Carroll, IL 61053

Reviewed By: Debra Parish
Visibility/Location: The attraction was easy to find (throughout town there are several attraction signs to guide the way) located right off the square, with a good sized parking lot, right at the front entrance.
Wait Entertainment: We had about a 30 minute wait, as the tour in front of us was still finishing up. Although we were given the option to check in and come back (without losing our place in line), we filled our time wandering the grounds checking out the scenery, all hand crafted by Jim himself, taking pics, and visiting with his wife Jessica. The wait time passed quickly.
Admission Price: $15.00 (Children 9 and under, $13.00)
Parking: Parking is free
Length:

Our tour lasted 1 hour, 34 mins *
* = Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time will vary. Note: The time shown here represents the actual time spent moving forward through the attraction. Time spent waiting in queue lines, staging areas, intro scenes, rules rooms and when traffic jams cause patrons to come to a halt, has been subtracted.

LPR: 21.933
LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Actual quality and/or entertainment value of an event are not factors in this calculation. Click Here to see how this event compares to others visited this year by the staff of HauntedIllinois.com.
Scare Factor: Low - Medium. For the most part, the tour was more humorous than scary, however Jim does make you jump from time to time.
Crowd Control: Flow of customers is handled well. If further patrons arrive shortly after your tour has begun, they will be allowed to join, however if you have already journeyed past the first room, then they wait for their tour to begin upon yours ending. Our tour consisted solely of my daughter and myself, moving room to room at our own pace.

Summary:

Simply put, Ravens Grin Inn is a wondrous world of oddities and adventure. From the hidden passageways, trap doors, and slides, to uncountable amounts of bizarre and intrigue, Jim has spent 26 years developing a one-of-a-kind must see 4-story house of fantasy and fun.

Our adventure began with a history lesson of the house, a ghost story, and some special effects, and continued winding thru an abundance of Jim and Jessica's unique creations and collectables. Rumored to be haunted, we wondered, and sometimes slid (optional), from the Attic to The Wine Cellar, hearing tales of sightings and unexplainable events along the way. Ending with a quick game of hide and seek, The Ravens Grin Inn delivered not only an enjoyable but memorable experience for both my daughter and myself alike.
