Gallows
Hill Park During the witch trials, Gallows Hill was the location where those convicted of witchcraft were taken to be executed. What was once a site of public hangings, is now a baseball field and children's park. When I was doing research for my trip, the park wasn't really advertised as much as the other tourist attractions in Salem. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it isn't located close enough to the other tourist attractions in town. (Click on any of the pictures below to enlarge)
40 Whacks Museum This attraction is a 3,000 sq ft museum dedicated to history of Lizzie Borden. Inside the museum are reproductions of artifacts, enlarged photos, as well as a complete documented history of the infamous events related to the brutal murder of Lizzie Borden's mother and father in 1892. I've never seen anything like it. This museum has to be the most extensive collection of history and artifacts on the subject, hands down.
Other Places of Interest in Salem Unfortunately, I only had a few days to visit Salem. There were so many places to go and things to see, I just couldn't fit it all in. Here are a few places of interest that I saw, but didn't have the time to explore.
Salem is a great place to visit, if you get the chance. There you will find nice people, good food and of course, if you’re interested in early American history.. especially that related to the Salem Witch Trials, you won’t be disappointed.
