Day 7: The day started early with everyone meeting down in the hotel lobby. Our stay in Romania was nearly over. With only a couple of hours left before we had to leave for the airport, I wanted to take advantage of that time to explore Bucharest. Mostly, I wanted to shop for a few more souvenirs. After Radu gave everyone general directions to a large bookstore in town, we headed out on the streets of Bucharest. Along the way to the bookstore, we stopped at a couple of other shops. I bought some glassware, pottery and a few other items. After we had finished shopping, we continued on to the bookstore. When we got there, I picked out an atlas of Romania, as well as a couple of really nice books on Romanian history. Time was running out, so we returned to the hotel to get on the bus. From there we went straight to the airport, where we would board our plane and return back home. The tour did come to somewhat of a bitter-sweet end. It was nice be back home again, but I really missed Romania and my new-found friends from the tour group. After a week of traveling together, we were all like family. I can honestly say this was the best vacation I have ever been on; it is definitely something I will never forget. With any luck, I’ll have the opportunity to return to Romania some time in the future.
