The
Midwest Haunters Convention has become well known for its outstanding
social activities and this year was no exception. The Midsummer
Monster Bash and Masquerade Party were both phenomenal.
The pre-convention Haunt Tour was a lot of fun, as well.
I think that is one thing that attendees can count on when they
go to MHC. It’s always a
lot of fun!
Along with all of the fun things, there was also the business side of
the show. This year there
was a wide variety of products on the show floor. I was happy to
see that Scarefactory decided to have a booth; however, I was a little
surprised that they didn’t reserve a larger space, since then have
such an extensive product line. Of course, all kinds of
haunt-related companies were there to show off all of the great products
they have to offer. There
were even some vendors on the show floor who weren’t selling haunt
props; however they were providing products and services that Haunters
need to run their businesses. For
example, the Motorola booth was selling two-way radios and Paragon was
offering their marketing services.
Also, Westland Insurance was there.
They have been providing special event insurance for haunted
attractions, for a number of years now. There was also a wide variety of haunt-related seminars that
haunters could attend, as well as several vendors demos presented on the tradeshow floor.
Over the course of the weekend, attendees may have noticed some
professional video cameras on the show floor, at the masquerade ball and
elsewhere at the show. The film company “Post Time Productions”
was shooting footage of MHC for a TV pilot they are putting together.
With any luck, you’ll be seeing coverage of the Midwest
Haunters Convention on the Travel Channel or some other national
network!
Special thanks to Barry Schieferstein, Kathy Schieferstein, Kelly
Collins & Neena Collins for organizing the pre-convention Haunt
Tour, show floor, seminars and all the social activities, to make this
show such a smashing success! All
of the events and activities were well-planned and went off without a
hitch. The Midwest Haunters Convention continues to be my favorite show
in the Haunt Industry!
