Visibility/Location: They are right along the highway on Weber road. GPS will take you right there. Just look for the light controlled intersection with the huge lit-up pumpkin.

Wait Entertainment: Statesville does a decent job of wait entertainment. There was hard rock music playing outside, which seems to be consistent every year. There were several actors outside, moving about in the covered waiting area. With that in mind, if you want to go, be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. You may be standing outside a while, especially if you wait to go until later in October

Length of Event: While you are waiting, they transfer you from one waiting area to another. I realize this is supposed to give the illusion that you are always moving, but I don't find it entertaining. This is a point of contention for me and always has been with Statesville. Just let me in the haunted house, already!. The actual length of Stateville and City of the Dead was about 15 or 20 minutes, if you don't count all of the staging areas and cages.

Actor Performance: Statesville actors are definitely good. They were pretty on-target and very creepy in their performances. City of the Dead seemed like "Statesville Junior", where the younger and less seasoned actors were banished to. City of the Dead actors mainly spouted gibberish and did pop-out scares, while the Statesville actors were more in your face and interactive.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: They do attempt to control the crowd in the Statesville attraction with various staging areas, but that starting and stopping is annoying. Why don't they just let fewer people in? City of the Dead is a free-for-all. I got the impression they were just shoving as many people through there as they could. It was a conga line halfway through.

Summary: In my experience, Statesville Haunted Prison is consistently good every year. This year was no exception; however, it very rarely changes. Get rid of the Warden intro. After more than 10 years of that, it gets old. There still is the disgusting bathroom, walking through the bus, the red/white clowns and other scenes. It is very highly detailed and there is a lot of eye candy. For someone who has never been there, it's probably amazing. For me, though, I would like to see more changes made.

City of the Dead is like an underground cavern with many little demons mumbling and popping out at you. The detail is very high in this haunted house, too. Again, not much has changed over the years.

Don't get me wrong. I really like Statesville, but for them to continue to charge $30, I would like to see more changes as the years go by.

Visibility/Location: Very good location easy to find.

Wait Entertainment: The entertainment for the wait was really good. I loved how the actors came out and interacted with the crowd. Also waiting in the outside intake cell was alot of laughs.

Length of Event: The length was ok about 1 hour between the 2 areas.

Actor Performance: The actors were there but I feel they could have put more effort into their roles.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: We did good not getting caught up with any other groups but they started with too big of groups and split ours ups.

Appropriate Ages: I would say 10 and up.

Props / Special FX: The best prop was probably the giant alligator head coming out.

Costumes / Make-up: The costumes and make up were really good. We liked the prisoner out front in the blue jump suit and the blood girls.

Summary: I was actually pretty disappointed. I have waited years to go to Statesville and i was not pleased. The stories i have heard and the videos i watched online for Statesville and I do not feel they up held to their reputation. It was a good time we enjoyed ourselves but I did not get the scare factor at all. I did not jump one time. I don't think I will spend my money to go back but glad I got the experience.
