|Scare Factor: Very High | Atmosphere: Good|
Visibility/Location: This attraction is pretty easy to find, once you get within eyesight of the building you know it's where you need to be. Directions might be helpful for out of town people who don't know their way around Pekin, otherwise it's pretty easy to find.
Wait Entertainment: Wait entertainment is fantastic. The people working the wait line did so the entire time we waited and were interactive with the line and just overall entertaining.
Length of Event: It takes a good 20-25 minutes to get through, it could vary depending on group size, etc.
Actor Performance: Actor performance is outstanding, each actor gets into their role and they are very much in your face and follow you for as long as they can through each room. You will think they are gone, turn around and they are still there! They don't break roles and really creep you out.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Patron flow was good, they like groups of 4 or more and they take their time with you while you are in the attraction.
Appropriate Ages: I would say no younger than 10-12 should go through.
Props / Special FX: Props and special effects were awesome, there's tons of detail, and each room you move through is really realistic. The space they have to work with in that building is amazing and they really use it all well. The mental ward was extremely realistic looking, as well as the zombie scene.
Costumes / Make-up: Costumes and make-up were top notch, the line entertainers alone had amazing make up and costumes. Each actor had really good make and costumes that went along really well with the good acting.
Summary: This place is worth the drive for an out of town person! You can tell these people really enjoy putting this on, and it is nice to see actors who really get into their role. Even though it was really close to closing time for them, each room still had actors and everybody was still in character and ready to scare you. They have some cutting edge ideas and things that really will scare you! The zombie scene and the mental ward were both fantastic and I've never seen them done so well before! I will for sure be back again.
|Scare Factor: High | Atmosphere: Good|
Visibility/Location: This attraction is right along the highway it is on and has a good sign you can see from the road. If you aren't familiar with the area, directions would be good to have, but you will know it when you are approaching. .
Wait Entertainment: Wait entertainment is good, they have a few haunts that are good at creating the creepy atmosphere and interact well with the line, making it fun.
Length of Event: 15-20 minutes
Actor Performance: Actors stay in character well, and have fun with you. They have some that are good at creating the atmosphere of the room they are in and really creeping you out.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: We got through well and didn't run into another group, they do well with spacing you out so you don't pile up.
Appropriate Ages: 10 would be the youngest for this one.
Props / Special FX: their props and special effects are realistic and they keep it up to date. They have added new things this year and changed some things. They have some good tricks, and the "waiting" room is a fun touch to the beginning. There are a few rooms where they mislead you and get an extra scare from you, which is always fun.
Costumes / Make-up: Costumes and make-up are effective, their masks and make-up are appropriate to the theme of each room and add to the overall scariness.
Summary: This is another attraction that is worth the drive from out of town. Part of the fun is the location of this place, you really don't expect it to be what it is. They really get into what they do here which makes it better for patrons. Another perk is they are one of the less expensive attractions that are more than worth it, they even give you tickets for a discount if you come visit again. It's nice to see a place that keeps up from year to year and changes things enough to keep it exciting. I expect they will continue to keep things edgy and scary!

| Overall Score:|
|Scare Factor: Very Low | Atmosphere: Fair|
Visibility/Location: Located right off of highway, when you are passing it you can tell that's where you need to be. You can see the large main building, tons of cars parked and the haunted mansion from the road. So overall very easy to find.
Wait Entertainment: We chose the haunted trail and there was very little wait entertainment, spooks would wander through a little, but didn't really "work" the crowd and get you excited to go on the trail.
Length of Event: The trail takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Actor Performance: The actor performance could use some work, they really don't engage with the group very well, and might jump out at you but don't really get into any type of character.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: The flow on the trail was good, we didn't catch up with the group in front of us which is always a plus.
Appropriate Ages: This attraction would be ok for kids as young as 7 or 8 as there are many young kids working the trail itself.
Props / Special FX: They have quite a bit of detail out on the trail however they need some kind of lighting so you can appreciate it a little more. Many of their props and effects are outdated and run down. An overhaul of this could benefit them greatly.
Costumes / Make-up: The costumes and make-up are ok, however the actors don't get into enough character for it to be effective.
Summary: I have come to Spider Hill for 5+ years now, and I am sad that it is becoming outdated. They really seem to be lacking effort to remain edgy and nothing about the attractions has changed. Even the main building where you can just get snacks and sit before or after going to the attractions was kind of blah this year. I don't know if maybe they want to attract families and that's why the haunts aren't as intense, if so they should maybe advertise/play up that it is a family attraction. Otherwise I really hope they consider some overhauling of the whole attraction.
