| Overall Score:|
|Scare Factor: Very High | Atmosphere: Very Good|
Visibility/Location: The event is at a private home in a Lombard subdivision...we found it easy to find. There was a scary guy waiting for us out front. Also, it's FREE!! Lots of GREAT family fun to be had there.
Wait Entertainment: There was no waiting...we were the only ones there at the time.
Length of Event: The event starts in the driveway with a big display of scary things...a man in an electric chair, and an actor dressed up with a head in one hand and a chain saw in the other. You interact with this character for a bit, then go on to the backyard. All in all, it took about 15 minutes to go through the backyard..there was a lot of stuff there to look at! VERY well done.
Actor Performance: FANTASTIC. There were 3 actors in total that night, including a 'child of the corn'...ALL of them were extremely SCARY...very well prepared for their roles.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: It was very well organized, with a lighted trail to follow...no way to get lost.
Appropriate Ages: All age appropriate...very enjoyable. Best of all, it was FREE!
Props / Special FX: There were lots of props..an unbelievable amount in a rather small space. Lots of animated SCARY monsters that jump out at you as you walk through the backyard. Music in the background..the BEST was the electrocuted man in the driveway AND the eerie SCREEN on the door entering the backyard with many goulish faces talking to you before you pull the handle to go through the door. I could have watched that screen more...it was fascinatingly scary!!!
Costumes / Make-up: The main actor had a white coat with blood, a chopped off head in one hand, a chain saw in the other. The child had makeup on to look like he was dead. Then there was a young goulish looking girl with a prop little baby screaming at us to take her with us...she POUNDED on the fence as we were leaving, begging us to go with. VERY well done!!
Summary: To summarize this event, my sister and I would HIGHLY recommend this place, not just because it was FREE, but it was VERY entertaining..much more than one would think could be put on at a private home! WELL WORTH going over there...the ambiance was VERY scary, the actors were extremely good. We just went to the ODEUM on Sunday, and even though this venue was smaller than that, we got some VERY good scares at Paranormal Pinebrook. In fact, the man with the chainsaw CHASED US all the way to our car!
Please take some time to go see this event, as a lot of work seems to have bee put into it, so you won't be disappointed, I assure you!
|Scare Factor: High | Atmosphere: Very Good|
Visibility/Location: The display is in the front yard of a private home in Lombard, IL. It was easy to find and well lit. Free event.
Wait Entertainment: People can just pull up and park out front. There is no waiting...you just walk up and take in the displays.
Length of Event: We were there about 15-20 minutes watching the movie in the window and talking to the zombies and Frankenstein, who gave us candy.
Actor Performance: After we were there looking at all the zombie statues, dead baby statues, etc., a REAL human creature came out to greet us...it was Frankenstein! Very realistic costume...also, another zombie came out,, too.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Other cars pulled up with kids, who really seemed to enjoy hanging out with the Frankenstein monster!
Appropriate Ages: All.
Props / Special FX: There was scary music, lights, a FOG machine (nice touch!), displays of heads that turned around in a circle, ghouls howling, a mechanical monster, heads displayed in the front window, and BEST OF ALL, an old SCARY MOVIE playing on a tv on display in the window..the tv was from the 1950!! VERY cool. You could stand there and watch since the sound was transported out front to visitors.
Costumes / Make-up: The Frankenstein monster was very realistic.
Summary: This is a FREE yard event suitable for all ages. If you live in the area, it's worth the trip. You could always bring a lawn chair and watch the movie in the window (weather permitting, of course!). There were moving displays, scary music, fog, headstones, a charcoal grill with body parts cooking, a mechanical monster, some REAL LIVE monsters, and lots of scary statues scattered around.
The players/house owners were VERY nice..they even give out candy!! All in all, it was a very cute, small display that would be enjoyable for almost anyone, especially kids!
