| Overall Score:|
|Scare Factor: Medium | Atmosphere: Good|
Visibility/Location: As easy to find as the Fairgrounds!
Wait Entertainment: Minimal. A few actors walking the line, but no interaction with the customers.
Length of Event: Around 30 minutes I think, I didn't actually time it.
Actor Performance: Actors were better then last year, but thatís not saying much. Only one, an Army guy, actually spoke to us in some form of character, then broke character when a person in my group recognized him.
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: Very smooth. Flawless actualy.
Appropriate Ages: 12+
Props / Special FX: The props / animatronics this year were outstanding! I actually canít put into writing how great they were. Itís what makes going there this year worth it. You have to see it yourself, Iím no writer, so canít give this category itís proper due. Shooting down fighter jetsÖ. A swirling foggy tunnel you walk threwÖ..Many many moreÖ..
Costumes / Make-up: Here's where N.F.G.R. still has some problems. Disappointing, and just like last year, a few actors think that a 3 minute makeup job of smearing some fake blood on their face and neck makes for a good show. It doesnít. I donít expect to see makeup like on the TV show Faceoff, but I do expect to see some effort placed into it, or something better then a $10 Walmart mask. As an example. I noticed one of the clowns that turned his head, I could see his flesh color skin on his neck contrasting the white mask. Granted, most people would not notice this, but if you pay attention to detail like I do, it sticks out and looks bad. Get a $3 tube of white face makeup at Walmart and smear some on your neck. Makes things look much better.
Summary: A huge improvement over last year! You guys are on the right track, just keep heading in that direction! Overall N.F.G.R. as fallen short in 2010 and even fallen more in 2011. For 2012 you have really picked things up, good job! Keep going and youíll become one of the better in Illinois. Also, check out the free show next to the ďkiddie hauntĒ one guy puts on a short skit, interesting. I didnít go into the kiddie haunt, no kids, so canít comment. What I did see of it, it looks like a bunch of fun for kids of all ages. Well worth the $8 price. Recommended to all in this area.
