Visibility/Location: There's a lit sign for the event at the bottom of the hill it is on. Once there, huge letters hanging from the baseball diamond tell you that you arrived.

Wait Entertainment: We opted to pay the $10 extra for the speed pass since it was late and the line was so long, so we didn't really see any wait entertainment. We could hear from the regular line that the wait entertainment seemed to be going well.

Length of Event: 30 to 45 minutes

Actor Performance: Top notch. Everyone was in character and ready to entertain. If they weren't scaring they were entertaining.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: This was the only hitch in an otherwise perfect event. We quickly ran into the group in front of us in MC Manor and seemed to stay with them and the group behind us the rest of the evening. There were parts where we were literally just walking through scenes in a long line.

Appropriate Ages: 13 and up. While there's nothing too graphic, the scares are quite intense.

Props / Special FX: Amazing. None of the props were the large thousands of dollars ones and they didn't need them. Honestly it would probably have been distracting to have had them. There were some standard animatronics I have seen used in new and interesting ways. One that comes to mind is the projection effect of zombies banging on a window and the window suddenly collapsing inward.

Costumes / Make-up: The makeup was very good. I don't recall seeing asingle mask or unmade face. Some of the people spacing groups were unmade and in street clothes, but that was it. The costumes all fit with the settings of each scene. Well thought out.

Summary: This is our second year going to Spook Hollow and it was and still is at the top of it's game. We always end our weekend trips for the season with this event since we feel it is truly the best there is in Illinois.
We love all the detail that goes into each and every scene. MC Manor was phenomenal. My new favorite scene has to be the dining room with the large prop at the table eating and the zombies crashing through the window. I also really like where you walk under a broken staircase and the Christmas room. Lots of great hiding places. The only problem was the flow. We missed some good scares due to the congestion. Every actor still tried their heart out, though, and for that we were greatful.
Spook Hollow trail is my favorite. I liked the mine and how it's long dark passages are so twisted and cramped. It made it nice and cloustrophobic. I also enjoyed the new burning house scene. It was very disturbing and well done. Especially the burnt woman in the bed. Exceedingly unnerving. I liked the cornfield as well. There was an actor in a black robe standing in there holding a leaf from the corn. Upon approach they wiggled the leaf at my side and said, "Tickle, tickle." It wasn't scary, but it got laughs and was entertaining. That's what I mean. If you're not going to scare us, entertain us. There was one scene I wasn't too enthused with and that was the zombie containment scene. I wouldn't have ended with that. Last year they had a really mind-blowing scene where a guy with a gun escorts you in, promptly blows away a zombie and then takes off, leaving you to fend for yourself. That was a phenomenal scene and I was sad to see it absent. I understand the need to keep things fresh, though.
MC Nightmare is their new industrial themed haunt and it was amazing. Like MC Manor and the Spook Hollow trail it was incredibly detailed. Lots to see. It was also very cramped and tight which meant that no matter what horrible thing was happening in that room you were right there with it. They moved the zombie gunfight in here.
Everything works for these people because they know how to work it. Amazing sets, amazing actors...everything. Crowd control does need some work, but it doesn't take away from it too much. Amazing job once again. A huge thank you to the Spook Hollow actors and behind the scenes team for another awesome event!

Visibility/Location: Located in a great location in Marquette Heights high above the hills, marked with lighted sign and also marked from the main turn-off heading out of Pekin. You can't miss this after you turn up the hill toward Marquette Heights.

Wait Entertainment: There are tons of monsters walking around looking to keep your fears high long before you get into the haunt, and you will need something to keep you entertained for a long time!

Length of Event: The actual event from start to finish took us about one and a half hours to get through after we actually got started - that's another story!

Actor Performance: The actors all done a very good to excellent job, everybody which was ready for us was great; however there are a few (girl actually sleeping on a bed) which missed the mark.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: This is the issue here, a REAL problem which needs to be fixed and soon, we started at 7:15 and didn't finish until 11:10 which is way too long period. With the actual event maybe within a 45 minute frame layout that adds all this extra time for waiting and it mean jumping from one line to another line continuously thoughout the event. Even after you enter into the event it's one bottle neck jam after another - far too many to be except able within a normal haunted house attraction.

Appropriate Ages: I wouldn't recommend that small children or people who shock easy attend this event, there are some real shocking effects and monsters throughout the event.

Props / Special FX: There are tons of high quality props and automation devices firing off all around you, there is more detail here than you could ever see if you entered the event several times. There are no weakness points here with props and effects, they do have them and everything tonight went off very good .

Costumes / Make-up: The costumes and make up are perfect, there are no weak points here either, everyone was dressed up great and their make up was perfect. There are also some real high quality masks here too!

Summary: Overall this is a great attraction here and they all do an excellent job pulling this thing off, they have done this for years and have a very large following and it shows. Everyone has a great time and they keep it exciting and action packed every year. There is an excellent surrounding here which has about a half dozen remote locations throughout the woods and everyone with a different theme, it's very well done. The only weak parts here and the keeping from a high rated 10 score is the LINE CONTROL which is totally disrupted because of management issues, this is the worst I have ever seen it! The opening also lacked something, by teasing you with a haunted entry into the main building just to listen to a beginning 101 about the rules for three minutes, then moving you out the door to another one hour or better line - not well done !
This event needs to find a way to control this issue before people get to upset over this, $20.00 is a lot of money to spend to stand for 4 hours plus waiting. I would suggest paying the extra $30.00 for a speed pass and even then you are going to have some real waiting time ahead if you.

Visibility/Location: nice big sign at the bottom of their hill. & when you got to the top were the event was at it was all lit up!

Wait Entertainment: on a 1-10 0. I know they say if it's good your gonna have a long wait & maybe we could of handled it had we of actually had entertainment, not a couple of young guys walking back & forth just jumping in your face & yelling!line was too crowded for them pushing us all around. almost knocked my daughter-in-law down.

Length of Event: well 21/2 hrs in line first line was an hour then we had to go threw a speech & then back outside to another 11/2 line, when we got to finally go in, well we had another line of a 1/2 hr, then we got let threw the doors & 45 min later & after walking threw a lot of empty tails in the dark oh wait we seen 2 girls doind ring around the rosie we were out!

Actor Performance: ummm not so much. there was a few good ones I think the best were the zombies at the dinner table. didn't like the house fire had a hard time breathing in that one & the girl in the bed just looked like she was asleep.

Patron Flow Inside Attraction: we ended up with 3 other groups flow wasn't well at all!

Appropriate Ages: noit younger then 10 & that is a quetion mark there was too many sharp danger areas we came upon. I got the back of my hoodie tore on a nail when you had to walk like you were walking in between the walls.

Props / Special FX: there was some but none that left a thought in my head!

Costumes / Make-up: seen a few mask that was cool. wasn't too creative with make-up though.

Summary: was a really long night for old folks like my husband & I, but we didn't seem to have any problems at any of the other haunted house's we went to.didn't like walking all of the haunted trail with nothing really going on. the coal mine needs some kind of light that was a bit too much. & I have to say if your an average size person. & I'm not talking fat. this isn't the best place for you to be. I know a few got stuck in a couple of places we talked to them at the end. this was our first time there & the wife & I decided it would be our last. HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL! OUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY!
