|Scare Factor: Very High | Atmosphere: Very Good|
Visibility/Location: Riverside Park isn't hard to locate but use your GPS if needed.. The roadside is marked but still could be difficult to find, in the past they used inflation devices to enhance the appearance better, but not this year ..
Wait Entertainment: Various monsters and crazy clowns walking around with chainsaws and knifes .. You have music by DJ (however not actual Halloween theme but it works) several fire pits for warmth, complete food and drink service provided ..
Length of Event: The entire event lasted around 20 minutes, however this would vary depending on each events stopping time..
Actor Performance: Everyone done a fantastic job and brought 100% to the scare, there were no weak characters tonight .
Patron Flow Inside Attraction: This is a hayrack setting and therefore no issues with this .
Appropriate Ages: This is a very hard number to reach out for, this event takes you deep into dark woods with various themes and creatures attack the hayrack with chainsaws and knifes, some actually come onto the hayrack and go after the crowd, this is about as intense as a haunted event can get - use your own judgement but I'd say at least 13 or 14...
Props / Special FX: The props are various attractions set up around the park location, this can consist of automation props, lighting and smoke effects, and lots of stationary observation props .. I always hope for more sets but it appears that 8 or 10 is about their number -- very nice settings ..
Costumes / Make-up: It's almost impossible to judge the costumes and makeup within the woods, completely dark surroundings with light illuminations coming from props or effect lighting - lots of quality masks here but they work because of the darkness (makeup wouldn't be as visual impacting in the darker surroundings).
Summary: This is a great haunted event which has taken place at Riverfront Park for years, this has a very large following and there is a reason - they provide a great scare and at the $10.00 entry fee it's the best deal in Springfield .. In previous years several settings were getting dated and somewhat predictable, however this year the added length to the hayrack trail (much better) and redesigned some of the dated settings to bring them back to life, and added new settings which worked great ... This event is well staffed with lots of creatures in the woods with plenty of chainsaws and large axes, yes they come after you ! I have nothing but respect for this group and they continue bring the fright to this attraction, ready for next year already ..
