So it costs fifty dollars a person this year at transworld! WOW! For me to go and place orders with the companies, I normally get catalogs from any way and can order from the comfort of my office or home.

Wow, really? Even for people with the supposed "credentials" to get in?

A know it's been $20 if you don't pre-register the last couple years, but $50 for everyone might actually keep me away this year.

I wonder if they are hurting, and need the money? Or if they're just trying to keep the "gawkers" out in favor of "serious buyers"? Either one wouldn't suprise me.

I ran into a couple on the street who had nothing to do with Halloween or haunts. They asked me what was going on inside the convention center. I told them the haunt show, and they went in and 20 minutes later were walking the show floor. Guess they were bored, and it was better than a movie or a bar.

This could be what Transworld is trying to guard against. That, or they just really need the money! (The Party side of the show didn't look too "healthy" last year!!!)

You mean, this year or next year in 2012? 50 bucks is ridiculous! But, if Transworld is charging more money then I would care less to pay to enter! Very Happy

I have been to quite a few Transworlds and sometimes there didn't seem to be enough potential customers there to make it worthwhile for those booth buyers who paid $1200-$1500 for one 10 by 10 spot.
So what do the organisers do? Have to fill the narrow aisles to make it look "good"!??
I wonder if this type of thinking happened the time they had a certain haunt celebrity there on a busy Saturday and the place was packed with gaukers, not costume or haunt prop buyers, just Moe & Joe lookers who weren't about to buy anything.
Many trade shows have vanished because of on-line cataloging/purchasing. I think the main thing still floating everyones "Boat" with Transworld is the fun and WOW factor of the merchandise and the social scenes meeting like-minded strange people as ourselves.
Of course, I could be all wrong about all of this? My periscope barely sees over the tall corn.

I've been waiting for this to happen for years. The battle between Haunt Show and Halloween Show vendors has been going on for as long as I’ve been attending the show (which has been at LEAST 8 years). It has always been a tricky dynamic.

Now that the Haunt Show and the Halloween Show are back together, this registration fee is no surprise to me. I’m sure that Transworld Exhibits Inc had to field many complaints from the Halloween wholesale vendors last year, now that the shows are combined again. Perhaps this is Transworld’s way of keeping them happy by weeding out the “gawkers” & providing exhibitors with a higher percentage of “Qualified Buyers”??? I’m sure that this will no doubt have a big impact on show attendance, but in the eyes of vendors who have high minimum order quantities, it will be a Godsend. No longer will wholesale vendors have to waste their time with someone who has more lint in their pockets than money. In the defense of said companies, I have seen a trend of some haunted attractions bring their entire crew of 30 people with them. For years, there have been complaints of non-qualified buyers taking expensive color catalogs and wasting the time of sales associates, when they clearly have no intention of buying anything. Put yourself in the shoes of the vendor. How would you feel if you were approached by 30 people with “Haunted House XYZ” printed on the back of their jackets and each one took one of the thick color catalogs that you had to pay good money to print??? Do you really think that all thirty of them are going to buy 100 masks each? Probably not.

Now before everyone gets on my back for siding with evil corporate America, I definitely see the other side of the coin. I DO see value in an attraction bringing multiple people from their crew as consultants of sorts, even if they aren't "qualified buyers". Builders and set designers could recommend the purchase of props, actors could recommend costumes / masks and make-up artists could recommend new make-up purchases. With that being said, I think there is great value in bringing more than one representative from each attraction, but you have to draw the line somewhere. I think representation of 30-50 people from a single event is a bit excessive and I think that is what Transworld is trying to put limitations on.

Sadly, this fee may discourage smaller attractions or home haunts from attending. More often than not, these small non-profits and start-ups eventually grow into larger attractions with larger budgets. I don’t think that anyone can argue that home haunters are the origin of most commercial haunted attractions. While Transworld is looking out for their wholesale vendors by charging this registration fee, I hope this doesn’t discourage future haunters from taking the next step.

I worked for a not for profit haunt and i am definitely not paying $50 to go transworld thats just ridiculous if they are letting people in off the street to Gawk then its their own fault don't put it off on me to cover your costs i spend at least 200 dollars every year I've been to Transworld for my needs as an actor and for the haunt but I can do it from my desk here at home as easy as Transworld.

I am not paying $50 to go. The Vendor list is not who I am looking for. Have fun, all those who go.
