2003 Terror on Washington Street Review

Terror on Washington Street
513 East Washington
Clinton, IL 61727
Date of Review: 10/25/03
Visibility/Location: This attraction wasn't plainly visible from the road.  I didn't really see any signs telling you which way to go, but the barricades with the orange flashing lights on top did help point you in the right direction.
Outside Appearance: This attraction was held in a fairly plain-looking building.
Wait Entertainment: There was an actor outside, interacting with the crowd.
Admission Price: General Admission: $6.00
RIP Pass: $12.00 (allows you to bypass the waiting line)

14 Minutes *

* = Since people move through haunted attractions at different rates, your time may vary.

Scare Factor: Medium
Atmosphere: The atmosphere was established by their uniquely themed  scenes and various special effects.
Crowd Control: Crowd control was good throughout the attraction.  I did briefly run into another group, but that was in a dark maze that was not easy to find your way out of.
Other Customer's
Most of the customers really seemed to have a good time.  A couple of patrons stated that it was a good value, compared to some other haunted houses they had gone to.

Terror on Washington Street had changed a number of scenes this year. In the introduction, you were presented the rules of the house, while standing in an old cobblestone street.  They had a very nice "Blair Witch" scene with trees, a tent and campfire.  Other themes included a nicely contoured cave, a detailed study, an open casket funeral, as well as many others. Many of these scenes were nicely detailed.

There were a couple of unexpected surprises along the way.  The car front end with the blaring horn and working headlights really took me off guard in the dark maze.  There was also a section were you had to crawl through on your hands and knees.  As  you were looking straight down through plexiglass into an illuminated area (where you thought the scare was coming from), they surprised you from the side.

Most of the actors were enthusiastic.  Everyone knew their roles and followed through.

As usual, this was another great performance by the Terror on Washington Street group.  They always come up with some really creative scares.  For the time spent inside, this attraction is well worth the modest $6.00 admission price.
