Summary:
Oh,
Disturbia. You wooed me, seduced me,
and made me your bitch. I’ll be
first in line on opening night next year. Guaranteed.
Just
standing in line here, we could feel the “dome” difference – black plastic
hung to take away from that awful, ugly white dome.
Besides the long legged heckler in line, at one point an actress crawled
out from under the black plastic begging for help, and was then dragged
violently and quickly back underneath by an unseen person.
Awesome!!
As
we approached the ticket taker, she bantered with us while telling us the rules
of the house – and then sent us into another “courtyard” style scene.
HUGE spiderwebs obscured our vision along the windy path, and we were
assaulted from all angles by actors – running, jumping, crawling, great
energy! We entered a second holding
area, and then were brought into the opening scene.
I
REFUSE to give away much about this scene – all I can say is this.
The theme is one of a satanic church type deal – you are led in and you
witness two girls chained up, looking possessed, while a third girl runs back
and forth between you, and a “priest” character starts a chant, which the
girls follow. BEAUTIFUL!!
So in sync, I felt almost drunk, sensory overload with the extreme
detail, the performance of all 4 actors almost as one, and then….. you’ll
have to see for yourself, but BY FAR the most unique entrance to a haunt I’ve
ever experienced. I want to do it
again. I would pay another $20 just
for that opening scene.
Throughout,
I cannot stress enough how great the detail was.
But something that especially stood out for me was that the house had
coverings/ceilings over top, and wooden floors.
MUCH better atmosphere to take away the reminders of the dome.
Another
area I have to mention is the cage maze. It
is HUGE, and you actually enter it multiple times.
The actors here – my goodness, flipping from the top of the bars, in
your face, crabwalking towards us, no holds barred.
By my count, and I TRIED, I only saw 3-4 actors here, and yet it felt
like there were 10. Great job here!
The
clown scene was outstanding. The
chain of redneck scenes was hilariously entertaining.
And then just when I thought it couldn’t get any better…. The last
scene… oh my… again, I won’t give this away, it was so beautifully
executed it is scary.
For
the first time in years I felt a little tiny bit of real terror in this scene.
I wanted to stop and make my friend who was with me lead me through.
I had no idea which way to go, I couldn’t see the walls, I didn’t
know how to get out, and I kept hearing a weird crunching noise from one side of
me, then suddenly, from another….
And
then hit with one of the most classic haunt scares of all time, and I about
pissed my pants, because somehow the actor had managed to sneak up DIRECTLY
behind me, and I would have taken off running, IF I COULD SEE THE EXIT, but
after I regained my composure, I walked out of the house yelling HELL YES at the
top of my lungs.
Overall,
every room had just the right makeup, costume, and CRAZY, high energy actor(s).
WONDERFUL job!
Disturbia,
I’ve never visited you before, and now I know why.
Because I’m now hooked and I want more.
Keep up the awesome work, guys, and I’ll be back next year like the
junkie you’ve made me.
