Summary:
The Ravens Grin is truly unique. It is
not your typical Halloween haunted attraction. It is kind of like a haunted fun house,
evoking a wide array of reactions
from patrons, ranging from screams & jumps to laughter.
My trek through the house was definitely very entertaining.
One thing that makes the Raven's Grin
different from other Halloween attractions is the fact that the building is
actually haunted. Built in 1870, is has had a really interesting history. The
building has been many things over the years, including an Oldsmobile dealership
and a brothel. With such an interesting past, it is no wonder that this
place has a haunted history. Over the years, supernatural phenomenon have been
reported in various areas, inside the house.
To help set the mood, the tour kicked
off with Jim Warfield, the owner of the house, sharing accounts of some of these
creepy and unexplainable happenings. After the introduction concluded, the
tour continued on through the rest of the house, where my group encountered
twisting passages, secret tunnels and fun slides. Everywhere I looked, there
were custom-made props and displays, as well as some really eclectic and
interesting artwork. This attraction is always growing and evolving. New artwork
and displays are constantly being added, so there's always something new to
see. In fact, there is so much "eye candy" inside the Raven's
Grin, you can go through multiple times and still not see
everything.
One of the most thrilling features of
the Raven's Grin is the slide in the "bad dreams bedroom". It is a
wild ride that starts at the top floor of the house, stretching down to the
stone-walled wine cellar, 24 feet below the surface of the Earth. The wine cellar,
one of my favorite areas in the Raven's Grin, just happens to be the room in which
many customers have experienced supernatural phenomenon. The
"Lady in White" has been seen
on many occasions in the one corner of the wine cellar.
If you are looking for an entertaining
event that is unlike anything you've ever seen, trust me and go to the Raven's
Grin Inn. It is very entertaining and also a great value. Where else can
you find a show
that lasts well over an hour for only $13? The Ravens Grin Inn is
an amazing attraction; the words in this review just don't do it
justice. It is an event that you must see for yourself. It is
truly in a
league of its own. This attraction is
nationally renowned and for good reason. It has been featured in various television
shows like "Wild Chicago", "HGTV Extreme
Homes" and Comedy Central’s “Travel Sick”, as well as
in countless news broadcasts and various books. This event is a
"must see". They are
open year-round, so be sure to check them out!
Note:
The best time to visit the Raven's
Grin is in the off-season, when you can avoid the huge October
crowds and get a more lengthy, in depth and personalized tour.
If you visit on non-October dates, you also have the benefit of
Jim Warfield, the creative force behind the Raven's Grin,
guiding the entire tour. Because The Raven's Grin is open
year-round (301 days a year), you can drop in nearly any day for
a tour!
