Summary:
Set
in an eerie old warehouse, The Scream Haunted Adventure appeared to be a haunt
we could really sink our teeth into, from the outside.
The
atmosphere entering the main waiting area was nice, with a large screen for
movies and the like, but there was hardly anyone in line that night, so it was
not on.
We handed over our tickets and entered the house, right away meeting our
first actress, who announced to the house over a loudspeaker that she was
sending in two more victims.
At first thought, I didn’t like this, but as we made our way through
the house it became amusing – not only would she announce groups, but would
occasionally ask her children to sing – and from all over the house, screams
and howls rang out.
A fun idea to keep your crew in the spirit on a slow night!
Many
of the scenes we encountered in the haunt we extremely detailed and fun to look
at.
A doctor’s lab with a patient on the table, airplane fuselage, this
house was a mash-up of all sorts of scenes, and all looked very well thought
out.
Lower ceilings in some scenes added to a claustrophobic feel as well.
Nice use of space!
There were also a few areas where you could see other patrons passing
through, though you weren’t sure when you would hit that section.
Very nice!
Costumes
and makeup were appropriate for all areas.
No complaints here.
Now,
the down side.
There were actors around every corner!
But for every one who really gave it their all, 3 more just sat there.
It was late in the night and slow, but that should just motivate you even
more to get the scares when someone IS coming through!
Time after time I stared at actors, waiting for them to do SOMETHING, and
got nothing.
I also heard a ton of “get out!”, which any haunt veteran knows is a
no no – we just paid to be there, keep us as long as you can!
Torture us, maim us, make us wet ourselves.
Don’t tell us to leave!
The
overall feeling when we exited this house was rather blah.
There were some great ideas for scenes, but missing some detail that
really could have made it pop.
Also, the actors really sort of took away from everything, as we were
trying to really get a good look at the rooms, they were pushing us through.
There’s no one in your haunt, guys!
Trap us and have a blast!
I
really do feel there is room for improvement here, with some actor training, a
bit more detail, this haunt could step up and be one of the greats in
Illinois… but as it stands, right now all it did was make us a bit sleepy for
the ride home.
