Night Terrors Of Effingham
Abandoned Rural King Building In Village Square Mall

Effingham, IL 62401

Visibility/Location: This haunt is located in a building in the Effingham mall. The mall stores were closed when we went but you still enter through the mall main entrance. We programmed the address given into the GPS and were taken straight to the mall.
Wait Entertainment: We arrived around 10 pm for this haunt and were in line approximately an hour. The wait for this event is in the building that they have the haunt set up in and it had some actors walking throughout scaring the people in line. They also had a couple large screens playing Halloween themed skits along with showing pictures of some of the characters in the haunt. They also had speakers set up playing some heavy metal music. This attraction did a good job of setting the mood. You are also close enough that you can hear some of the people screaming inside the haunted house.
Admission Price: The admission cost of this haunt is 12 dollars per person and 5 dollars extra for a speed pass. They will take 2 dollars off of your admission price if you bring in a canned good for their food pantry.
Parking: Free

LPR stands for Length/Price Ratio. It represents perceived value of an event, by comparing length vs price of admission. Higher numbers represent more value per dollar. Scare Factor: Medium
Crowd Control: They did a really good job of pacing out the groups going into the event, and we actually had a spot where we caught up to a group and they stalled us in a room to keep us separated.

This is my groups first year attending this haunt, and we were not disappointed. They had a good staff to haunt ratio along with a nice combination of makeup and masks.

The rules room was great. The narrator was dressed as a carnival person and she told us the rules and then separated us. She had all the girls go one direction and all the guys go a separate direction. This was an excellent way to get the girls even more scared. It is possible to catch up quickly with your group if the other half of your group wants to be caught up too.

They have a great zombie apocalypse room in the beginning of the haunt that had an interesting entrance as well as several zombies walking about the detailed scene.

Throughout the haunt there are several dark hallways that have “cobwebs”, strobes, and moving props. This group did a good job of using props, actors, and smells along with a lot of great startle scares. If they continue to add details along some of their hallways they will make the flow of this event even creepier. Night Terrors delivered a great event for their price, and we love the fact that they are giving back to their community food pantry.
