Massacre Haunted House
299 Montgomery Road
Montgomery, IL 60538

Visited: 09/30/17

Reviewed By: The Walking Ned
Visibility/Location: Massacre is located in a strip mall near Montgomery and Douglas. There is a front and back to the haunt, but the front door is in back of the strip mall, and if you want to park there, you would have to enter off of Douglas Road.
Wait Entertainment: I got there right after opening, there was nothing in the main lobby, but there was a secondary area where I thought I saw some actors around. I was in the fast pass lane, and there was nobody there.
Admission Price: $25.00
Parking: FREE, and I would like to state again that there is parking both in the front and back of the haunt. What is considered the back entrance is actually the front door in the strip mall. The back parking lot is where the front of the haunt is located. I recommend parking in the front, then walk through a grassy area to get to the front door, that way when the haunt is over, you are right by your car.

Scare Factor: Very High. We had a person leave within the first couple of rooms we went through.
Crowd Control: No problems, went through smoothly.

The beginning of the house starts out in an office type setting, with a couple of actors ready to scare you as it leads in to the hospital area. The actor playing a doctor was so scary, one of the people in our group had to leave the house! This then led in to the asylum area with ghouls behind the doors looking to add you to their collection.

This then led in to a very disgusting bathroom, which then in to a doctor's examining room, where they had different bodies in stages of decay, ready to gross you out. The next corridor had hanging bodies, and the first strobe of the house, adding to the difficulty of trying to avoid the bodies. This led to another examining room area, with more gross bodies.

After several dark turns through several hallways, you are then led in to a church area, which had a great mausoleum area, the attention to detail was very well done. They went extra on the fog to give it a very spooky look and feel. The fog continued out in to a cemetery area, which, again, the fog gave it an extra creepy feel.

This then led in to a great funeral setting, and the actors really had fun playing with you and the prop body in the coffin. Then, after another funeral area, you end up going through the vinyl walls in to the house area. You are led in to the main door, then go under a staircase, so all the tall people will have to do some ducking at this point. You then go through a very disgusting kitchen (do NOT eat the food the actors are trying to give you), which then leads in to an extremely creepy doll room. If you are not of fan of dolls, this room will freak you out, each and every kind of creepy doll is on display in this room. This then led in to another room, this time with giant, person sized dolls, which I found even creepier.

You then leave the house, to find an abandoned car, and a plane in the side of a wall, which I found extremely cool, in terms of props. Next was a slatted wall maze, with some added fog throughout to help with the confusion of which way to go. Next we had to walk by a giant plant, which looked ready to eat you at a moment's notice. The next tight hallway had some gross heads hanging down that you did not want to touch to get them out of your way.

Next part had a bridge with different parts moving in all directions, so make sure you keep a hand on the railings, and right after that avoid the giant spiders right after that! This is all part of jungle sequence that had another wooden rickety bridge and other jumps and frights. After another dark maze with one big surprise, you then go in to the 3D experience, complete with the glasses and fluorescent painted rooms. If you don't like clowns, you are not going to enjoy this area. They did have a great room on a 45 degree angle that really throws you off trying to climb and get through. Throughout this whole part of the house was especially eerie, they had a candy land part with some very creepy actors in clown make-up. The spinning room with the clown features was an added bonus.

This then led in to an area called Terror Town, where you are first met by the Mayor, who warns you not to go in. You start in a dark maze, which then leads in to an industrial area, where there are many oil drums to cause noises and jumps. The death row jail area I found creepy as well. This then led in to a broken down car area, which then led to a very disgusting butcher's area. Again, do not eat what the butcher is offering. This then went in to another industrial area, which led you on some crazy twists and turns throughout the end of the house.

Overall, I loved this house. I feel last year it rested on its laurels, and it wasn't as good. This year they upped the ante on both quality of rooms, and great scares. I would highly recommend this house.
