Summary:
When we arrived in the parking lot we saw the large banner of the haunt and a hearse parked in front. Above the banner is a bright strobe light to help guide you. The parking lot is brightly lit and plenty of parking. We walked up as security was giving their speech about contraband and asked all guests to remove all metal objects and hold them in their hand so they can use a security wand. When we went in the retail space the ticket counter was just to our left, purchased our tickets got our photo taken and waited in the queue line. There was not much of a wait. There were two groups in front of us, and one behind. They were playing a vintage horror film on the wall. I would like to think pre war the way the images would skip and jump.
We waited just outside the entrance as the doorman waited for the group before us to clear. The doors opened and closed automatically. The couple behind us was added to ours, which I prefer to go with strangers to gauge their level of fright. We were in a small room and there was a scene of a doctors office in front of us. Separating the scene and the group was a large screen like from a storm door. A video played on the monitor in the doctors office and as the video played the items the doctor interacted with in the video (it was a psychiatric review if a patient which was also in the room) the physical items reacted in front of us in an almost "Disneyesque" fashion. Then in the video you see the patient looking into the monitor for the big payoff in the scene.
The door in front of us opened to gain access into the doctor office. The group walked through another door at the opposite end into the haunt, here we met Buttons. Buttons told us all about the haunt, the show and the circus. this was one of many interactions we have experienced. We went to see the show next, we were invited to sit in the theater by both the ventriloquist and the puppet. Both actors interacted with us and themselves in a (good) confusing and chaotic way. They became board with us and kept walking. Into a school cafeteria and locker room, once again had an interaction where one of our group was to enter the shower and well.... let's just say no spoilers....
The many scenes, the entire path and transitions were fully decorated. If they were not, this was by design. Continued walking, greeted by more residents there. We were given quizzes, asked to play with various other actors. There was plenty of scripted dialogue most of them you met when they stood in the middle of the room, and a few which did come out of nowhere and give a startle.
We got to a point where this fell through little and took you out into reality for a second. A staff member stood in front of us that led to their vortex, she told us to watch our step and informed us about steps, handrails and ramps and to use them for our safety. She also let us know the effects on what the vortex can do and can be disorienting, and asked if anyone is uncomfortable with that. This is the first time in my haunt carrier I have ever received a disclaimer before going through one. This was a bit of a let down. And I have fallen down ill placed drop-offs after a vortex before. But theirs' was not the case and the haunt had provided a proper exit for such an effect.
After we went through the rest of the haunt and left "chainsaw alley" we were greeted with the picture we took before we entered and were offered to purchase a digital copy, which was emailed to you. If you like items branded with Twisted Crypt they have you covered. There was a very large and expansive gift shop. From rubber wristbands to drinkware, shirts, hats, keychains and much, much more. We were bid farewell and thanked by the outside staff as we went into the parking lot.
