Summary:
We were first given the rules inside of a bus that separated the line from the beginning of the show. We were directed to exit out of the emergency exit of the bus, and we started our trek through their haunted outdoor area. This area was a twisty maze, fenced off with a couple of rooms, and a lot of obstacles and even a rickety bridge. I did get lost in the maze a couple of times, but I'll bet that was the point because an actor was always there to redirect us. There were a lot of very pretty lights and effects throughout this trail, and a lot of actors that startled us along the way.
We finally found the entrance to the infamous barn at Haunted Haven. Throughout the barn, their "Once Upon a Nightmare" twisted fairytale theme was effectively translated. Among their twisted take on classic stories, we saw Red Riding Hood and a wolf, Wendy and Tinkerbell, Pinocchio (who did an excellent job at scaring us twice), as well as Alice and the White Rabbit. The scenes fit in with the characters very well. The White Rabbit was near a hallway that had black and white spades on the walls, which I thought was a nice touch. The twists and turns within the hallways were very tight, which made for a good claustrophobic effect.
Eventually, we found Haunted Haven's popular clowns, and they messed with us, as they usually do. This area of the attraction is always a lot of fun. They did a good job startling us and keeping us laughing while we shuffled through their home. After they were done with us, we found ourselves in a red and white striped circus tent maze. We had to find our way out, which is a lot harder than one would imagine, but still a lot of fun!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Haunted Haven this year! I absolutely loved their take on classic fairy tales, and I think they did a good job telling those stories. All of their costumes and make up were done very well and fit in with the appropriately decorated scenes. They are a Halloween tradition in their neighborhood and it's easy to see why! Every time I go, I see something new! Keep up the good work, Haunted Haven! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
